Harrods hosts exclusive IWC Portugieser exhibition

IWC Schaffhausen will bring the 75th anniversary celebrations of its Portugieser collection to Harrods in April.

The watch brand will bring an exclusive exhibition to the luxury Knightsbridge department store on April 10, offering one of the first opportunities to view the newly relaunched Portugieser collection in the UK.

Hosted in the Harrods Fine Watch Room, the pop-up exhibition will allow visitors an exclusive glimpse of the new IWC Portugieser collection, which launched in January 2015 at SIHH and which comes with a host of technological and design modifications as well as new features.

Highlights from the new collection include the introduction of IWC’s first Annual Calendar, featuring a newly developed in-house movement; the 52000 calibre, as well as the vintage-inspired Portugieser Hand-Wound Eight Days Edition 75th Anniversary, a modern-day interpretation of one of the original Portugieser timepieces from the 1930s.

The exhibition will also explore the brand’s history with two vintage IWC timepieces; a Savonette Taschenuhr Kalibre Jones from 1875 and a Portugieser Anniversary Watch Hand-Wound Calibre 9826, also on display.
