Haigh & Hastings marks Australian SAS anniversary

Australian watch brand Haigh & Hastings might only have launched in February but that hasn’t stopped it designing a watch to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the country’s SAS.

The Australian SAS Historical Foundation commissioned Haigh & Hastings to supply a limited run of 1,000 mechanical watches to mark the milestone.

James Ross, managing director of Haigh & Hastings, said: “As an Australian quality watch company, we’re honoured to be commissioned to supply the specifically designed, limited edition timepiece to commemorate this significant milestone – the 50th Anniversary of the Special Air Service Regiment. It’s a perfect match – ‘Timepieces for Adventurous Men’ and the outstanding men of the SASR.”

Based on the company’s M2 Divers watch, the SASR limited edition features a blue bezel and black rubber strap, embossed commemorative caseback design. Like other M2 Divers models, the 44mm automatic watch is water resistant to 300m with 316L stainless steel case and uses a screwdown crown and unidirectional rotating bezel. The watch is presented in a box carrying the SASR badge and comes with a certificate of authenticity.

Major Brett Warner of the SASR Historical Foundation said: “All of us who have served with the Special Air Service Regiment can be immensely proud of this historical milestone – our 50th Anniversary. As a not?for?profit organisation, the SAS Historical Foundation is pleased to offer this Limited Edition Haigh & Hastings range as a way to commemorate this special milestone in our proud history of service.”

The watch will be sold exclusively through the SASR Historical Foundation’s website.
