Gucci goes diving with League of Legends esport team

Italian fashion house is tapping into the popularity of a game with an active player base of over 80 million every month with a limited edition Dive watch inspired by Team Fnatic.

Not for the first time, what follows makes almost no sense to me, but then I am not the target market for a collaboration between Gucci and Fnatic, a team that plays the League of Legends massive multiplayer online battle arena video game.

The Italian fashion house is tapping into the popularity of a game with an active player base of over 80 million every month with a limited edition Dive watch inspired by Team Fnatic’s logo and signature black and orange coloring.

The 40mm stainless steel dive watch has a black and orange bezel, black and orange multi-icon indices, and a black rubber strap embossed with the Gucci logo.

The caseback is engraved with FNATIC and a limited-edition number from 1-100 for each piece.

As part of the collaboration with Fnatic, Gucci has developed a new game dedicated to the Dive watch.

It will be added to Gucci Arcade in July, a section of the Gucci App inspired by video games that allows users to play with House codes.

In the game, called Gucci Dive, players will dive into an underwater cave with a special submarine bearing Fnatic’s logo in order to collect coins, while avoiding obstacles.
