Grand Seiko replicates 44GS

Grand Seiko has created a Limited Edition replica of its 44GS model, as part of its 100 year anniversary celebrations.

The 44GS was first introduced in 1967 and was described by a brand spokesperson as establishing a new look for the collection as the first Grand Seiko to embody the signature "distinctly sober but sparkling" Grand Seiko look.

The new replica of the 44GS has been designed to be as faithful as possible to its predecessor. It uses a hand-winding movement, has the emblem on the case back and is the same size. In the stainless steel version, the dial, hands and indexes are said to be identical.

The collection comprises four models, all of which use the 9S64 calibre, with a 72 power reserve and 24 jewels. Three of the pieces are in gold (white, yellow and rose) while one is in stainless steel.
The case diameter is 37.99mm and the sapphire crystals have Seiko’s proprietary anti-reflection coating on the inner surface.
