Glashütte Original introduces a fresh dive watch family 50 years after it first took the plunge

The very first SeaQ, the 1969, goes on sale this month. It is a limited edition of 69 pieces in homage to the launch year of its forefather.

Swatch Group’s Glashütte Original has returned to the diver’s watch discipline with a fresh family it has named the SeaQ.

The watch takes inspiration from the brand’s Spezimatic Typ RP TS 200, which launched in 1969.

The very first SeaQ, the 1969, goes on sale this month. It is a limited edition of 69 pieces in homage to the year of its forefather.

A slightly smaller SeaQ (not the 1969) is not limited, nor is a Panoramic Date version.

They are offered with black or blue dials with matching ceramic unidirectional bezels.

The watches are easy to read thanks to chunky luminescent hands and hour markers.

The SeaQ 1969 and the SeaQ are powered by the in house Calibre 39-11 automatic movement with a running time of 40 hours, a seconds-stop mechanism and a date display.

The SeaQ Panorama Date (below) uses the Calibre 36 with its 100 hours of power.
