Glashütte Original has begun to roll out its new integrated chronograph movement which is at the heart of two new models.
The Calibre 37 was unveiled at BaselWorld earlier this year as a compact, reliable and precise movement suitable for everyday use.
The 4Hz movement has found a home in the Senator Chronograph Panorama Date and the Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date, both of which will first be offered through the brand’s own boutiques before being offered through its network of retailers.
The Calibre 37’s design is an exercise in simplicity and efficiency, mechanical qualities which also result in improved reliability. Regulation is handled by four screws on the balance wheel and the movement offers a 70 hour power reserve.
The classic Glashütte design of the Senator Chronograph Panorama Date is offered in either red gold or platinum, a version which features a traditionally silver-finished gold dial complete with railroad chapter ring, Roman numeral markers and a tachometric scale.
Three dial versions of the striking stainless steel Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date have been created in galvanised ruthenium, galvanised silver and blue, all finished with sun-burst decoration, while indices and hands are crafted from white gold.
The watches and Calibre 37 are currently being showcased as part of an interactive exhibition at the manufacture’s Dresden boutique that will move on to Stuttgart, New York and Chicago in November. An online presentation called ‘Our Chronograph – Your Story’ also invites watch fans to submit short stories on one of five themes involving the new chronograph.
