Girard-Perregaux supports Venice Art Biennale

Swiss manufacturer Girard-Perregaux is continuing its commitment to environmental protection by supporting the Blue Forest project at the 55th Venice Art Biennale; a project which hopes to raise awareness of environmental issues through art.

The Blue Forest was conceptualised by artist and architect Lucio Micheletti. He joins other Girard-Perregaux partnerships such as the brand’s association with the FOReverglades project which works with the Cracking Art Group to preserve the Everglades in Florida.

Girard-Perregaux also supports the Tohoku Manufacture Area located in the Fukushima region in Japan which assists local artisans in their reconstruction efforts.

Sowind chief executive Michele Sofisti said of the Blue Forest project: "The work of Lucio Micheletti sheds light on the changes impacting the environment, my hope is that by supporting this initiative, Girard-Perregaux will inspire people on the necessity to protect our planet."

The artist’s objective for the display is to impress the viewer with how little it takes to change the environment, and how simple actions can save it by transforming a natural space in a visually commanding, non-damaging way for a short period of time.

Lucio Micheletti’s pen drawings inspired by Blue Forest will be showcased in the windows of Girard-Perregaux stores and adapted to represent the views of the host cities.

The Venice Art Biennale begins on June 1st and runs until to November 24th 2013.
