Girard-Perregaux used the Miami Watches & Wonders event at the weekend to unveil a crystal-cased timepiece it has named the Quasar.
A quasar is a highly luminous halo that is thought to appear around a black hole in distant galaxies.
The GP Quasar’s crystal front and back plus its 45mm crystal case give full visibility to a new Neo-Tourbillon with three bridges edition of the BP94000-1035 movement.
The movement has had its mainplate removed so that it appears to float inside the case.
There is no word on how many pieces will be produced, but it is not described as limited. The US price will be $195,000.
