Garmin crams its latest Venu 2 smartwatches with health, fitness, communications and social tech

£350 Garmin Venu 2 is aimed squarely at its core fitness market but, with an almost identical set of features to current Apple Watch, it will be hoping to take a bite out of that competitor as well.

Garmin has upgraded its mid-market Venu line with a fresh collection bristling with health, fitness, communications and social tech.

The £350 Garmin Venu 2 is aimed squarely at its core fitness market but, with an almost identical set of features to current Apple Watch, it will be hoping to take a bite out of that competitor as well.

The watch comes with a 1.3 inch circular AMOLED display in a 43.6mm steel case.

It has a battery life of up to nine days, although keeping GPS mode switched on reduces that to 24 hours.

Garmin has built 11 sensors into the smartwatches, allowing it to monitor heart rate, breathing, blood oxygen, hydration and even stress levels.

It has training apps that work across the watch and tethered phone for strength, cardio, HIIT and elliptical training, stair stepping, floor climbing, indoor rowing, yoga, pilates and breath work.

Individual sports also have specialist features ranging from golf assistance to swimming tracking.
