Gareth Somers jumps from ICG to Peers Hardy

Former Inter City Group Swiss divisional manager Gareth Somers has left the group to join Peers Hardy Group as general sales manager.

Somers’ role at Inter City Group has incorporated into a new role of UK group brands sales manager taken over by Stephen Reece-Raybould, who previoulsy ran his own independent watch distribution company SpringColour. He will be covering the same territory as Somers but has an expanded role that will see him work with all branded watches within the group, both those made out in the Far East and in Switzerland.

Somers spent nearly seven years at Inter City Group where he was responsible for a number of brands including Police, Timberland, Roamer, Karen Millen, French Connection and Tendence. His new employer Peers Hardy represents a number of watch brands in the UK including Ice Watch, Kahuna, Ted Baker, Radley, Boccia and Kenneth Cole.

Somers said: “Due to the expansion of their business Peers Hardy are looking for an aggressive growth over the coming year and [my] role is to help them achieve this.”

Before joining Inter City Group Somers spent more than 13 years at Swatch group where he was a national sales manager.

Somer’s successor at Inter City Group Reece-Raybould had spent more than 10 years building up SpringColour that had previously been the distributor for watch brands including Guess, Lacoste and Tommy Hilfiger. He then retired from the company but has since come out of retirement to take over this new role at Inter City Group.

Reece-Raybould said: "I will be looking after the branded side of the business, which is on the increase, so that includes Police and Roamer, but also brands like FCUK.

Before setting up SpringColour Reece-Raybould was part of the team that launched Swatch Group in the UK. He spent more than nine years working for the company, most latterly as sales director.
