G-Shock takes inspiration from RAF Chinook

G-Shock has looked to the RAF’s heavy lifting Chinook helicopters for inspiration in designing its latest Premium model.

The GPW-1000RAF GPS Aviator was launched at the RAF Museum in Hendon this morning and features G-Shock’s groundbreaking Hybrid GPS/Radio Wave Ceptor function that picks up timing signals from atomic transmitters or GPS satellites to deliver accurate time wherever you are in the world.

The watch reflects the workhorse military helicopter’s robustness and also features a Zulu time function developed in conjunction with the RAF pilots that fly the helicopter, allowing access to UTC time at the press of a red embossed button.

Developed as the ultimate pilots watch, details include scratch resistance sapphire glass, anti-reflection coating, LED-illuminated high visibility luminescent coated numerals and a carbon hands that can withstand up to 12Gs while in rotation.

The solar-powered watch, with an 18 month battery reserve, is limited to 500 pieces in the UK and will be available to customers from November 1 priced at £850.
