G-Shock collaborates for second time with Burton

G-Shock is continuing its run of special 30th anniversary collaborative timepieces, with its second hook-up with Burton Snowboard Company.

Burton is well known among extreme sports fan and has been creating snowboards and associated apparel since the late 1970s. It has now teamed with the brand to create the limited edition model, tailored to outdoor sports with functions such as air pressure and temperature sensors and an altimeter.

Greg Dacyshyn, chief executive of Burton, said: “We’re really excited about the Burton x G-Shock collaboration project. Like Burton, G-Shock has a strong heritage of developing cool, innovative products.

“We like to work with other pioneers and as the first watch brand to really combine tech with fashion, G-Shock is one of those brands. Huge congrats to G-Shock on their 30th anniversary.”

The watch is based on G-Shock’s GDF100 Twin Sensor model. Its air pressure sensor is located at the nine o’clock position on the watch and is designed to take in ambient air for barometric pressure readings at the touch of a button and automatically measure atmospheric pressure every two hours.

The altimeter converts the pressure readings into altitudes of up to 10,000m, using atmospheric pressure conversion.

It other features include world time display in up to 48 cities, five daily alarms, 1/100th second stopwatch, countdown timer and 200m water resistance.

The Burton model also boasts a custom, dual-layer synthetic leather and Cordura strap, designed to be both durable and comfortable. It will have an RRP of about £150.
