G-Shock’s collaboration with streetwear brand Maharishi has led to the creation of a limited edition timepiece inspired by a shared love of Japanese bonsai trees.
The GWG-1000MH-1AER Mudmaster is the fourth watch created since the watchmaker and fashion brand teamed up; a partnership that has seen G-Shock limited editions become collectors’ pieces.
The £750 piece launched last week at the Maharishi store in London to an invited crowd of Maharishi and G-Shock fans before going on sale at G-Shock’s UK e-commerce site.
The watch is distinctive thanks to the use of Maharishi’s British Bonsai Forest print, which the brand has used as part of its AW16 collection.
“Reminiscent of the spiraling and interlocking patterns found in wood grain, British Bonsai sees a graphic update to the traditional camouflage pattern, integrating manipulated shapes to create a ‘stretch’ variant, the overall effect reminding us that camouflage is rooted in nature. A considered development, as the elongated graphics are well suited for a watch strap,” a spokesperson explained.
