Spanish watch brand Festina has been named the official timekeeper of the Tour of Britain professional cycling race, with a partnership that now means it sponsors three high profile European cycling events.
The Tour of Britain sponsorship will mean the UK joins the ranks of Tour de France, the Vuelta a España and the Tour de Suisse in having Festina as its official timekeeper.
Festina has also become the official timekeeper of The Halfords Tour Series and The Tour Ride mass participation events, with official clocks and branding set to appear across all of the events.
Festina has sponsored cycling events for more than 40 years and has created several celebratory timepieces to mark various races, including its line of Tour de France-inspired ChronoBike watches.
The Tour of Britain commercial manager Alastair Grant said: “We welcome Festina to The Tour of Britain and are delighted to have this prestigious brand associated with The Tour events going forward.
“Like ŠKODA, Festina are also an official partner of the Tour de France and their decision to become associated with The Tour of Britain shows the level of importance the race now has in the cycling world.”
The Halfords Tour Series will take place in Canary Wharf in London this week.
