Fellows overhauls live watch auction site

By Hallie Engel

Birmingham auction house Fellows & Son has given its watch auction website an overhaul, following increased demand from clients and collectors.

The new Watchauctions.co.uk site has been upgraded to a fully-featured bidding site, enabling clients to buy, value or consign watches all in one place, providing an improved bidding and browsing experience.

The site also features an online catalogue with multiple high-resolution images and detailed condition reports for each watch. Clients can also manage the various aspects of their account directly through the site, while a clear step-by-step guide has been added to help auction novices.

Adrian Hailwood, watch business manager at Fellows said: “Fellows has been a pioneer in field of auction house technology, introducing the first live online bidding and mobile apps to the UK.

"This new website will offer a unique opportunity to buy, value and consign watches backed by the customer service, security and authority that Fellows is known for.”

The site was originally launched in February 2012 as a tool for checking the state of the market for specific makes and models of watches. It provides average achieved auction prices for the top 23 watch brands sold by Fellows & Sons over the previous 24 months, which can be filtered according to condition and the presence of boxes and papers. Additional features include video authentication guides for the major brands.

The company has welcomed record sales figures over the last 12 months, with more than 7,000 wristwatches offered for sale across 30 auctions, with additional sales for pocket watches, watch parts and accessories.
