Fellows launches new live bidding platform to encourage would-be watch buyers

Auction house to absorb costs associated with live and timed bidding so new Fellows Live platform can offer users a smoother experience.

Auction house Fellows has introduced a new bidding platform designed to be more user-friendly and encourage would-be buyers by eliminating additional surcharges.

Fellows Live is a new platform that will allow all bidders to bid for watches for free in live auctions.

Bidders will only have to pay the standard Buyer’s Premium, plus VAT, on items purchased using the Fellows Live platform.

Stephen Whittaker, Fellows’ managing director, said that the company’s aim is to make bidding at the auction house “as easy and uncomplicated as possible”.

“Our team has been working to create a user-friendly platform, without the additional surcharges levied by the leading auction aggregator sites,” he said.

“We have absorbed the costs associated with live and timed bidding for our customers because we believe it should all be part of the service.”

This new bidding platform is part of Fellows’ campaign to overhaul the user-experience on its website.

Recently-added features on its website include an accumulating bid basket, so users know what they are spending as they are bidding live, and lot alerts, so users are informed as soon as an item they are interested in is listed in an online catalogue.

Fellows has also introduced transparency on other bids so that the platform informs the user where the other bids are coming from and whether it is another bidding platform, the room or on the phone.
