Fellows holds virtual valuation day over Zoom

Its first online event unearthed watches, jewellery and designer handbags worth over £75,000 in a single day.

Fellows has held is first virtual valuation day — a sort of Antiques Roadshow over Zoom — and unearthed watches, jewellery and designer handbags worth over £75,000 in a single session.

The auctioneer’s online initiative reached people all over the world, with people joining from America to Asia for consultations with the experts.

“We are thrilled with the amount of people who were interested in our first virtual valuation day. It was a huge success and the specialists at Fellows all pulled together to provide a fun day with lots of items consigned. We are able to offer our customers a service for free which is no different to a face-to-face valuation. Hopefully more customers in the future use this service as we continue to consign lots more beautiful items to our auctions,” says Fellows’ Alexandra Whittaker, who led the project.

Using the video software Zoom, those interested were able to have a private, confidential video chat one-to-one with Fellows’ specialists who provided free of charge valuations on their items, many of which were then consigned to future auctions.

Fellows’ recent online, timed-only auctions have also broken house records for number of bidders.

More people than ever are logging into the online auctions and sold-rates have been above 80%.

A watches auction on April 20th received a record breaking 1,150 registered bidders on the Fellows platform alone.
