EXCLUSIVE: Esquire Big Watch Survey lists 50 Most Wanted watch brands

The headline act of Esquire and Men’s Health’s new The Big Watch Survey 2015 is a list of the 50 most desirable brands among readers.

The Fifty Most Wanted allowed respondents to list however many watch brands they found desirable in order to compile a list of the top 50.

Duncan Chater, group publishing director of Hearst Magazines UK, said: “We are proud to launch the first annual 50 Most Wanted, powered by Esquire and Men’s Health. The definitive list offers unique consumer insight into the most desired watch brands. In recent years we have seen significant growth in consumer awareness throughout the sector, but the power of the big brands still shines through. Rolex has done an incredible job in brand positioning and this is testament to their position at the top of the chart.”

There were no great surprises in first and second place, going to Rolex (6,408 votes) and Patek Philippe (6,072) respectively.

In fact the first two thirds of the list is somewhat predictably formed of the big names in watch manufacturing with no real surprises until relative newcomer British brand Christopher Ward appears at No.35 (1,114), ahead of far more established brands such as Nomos (1,111), Maurice Lacroix (1,104), Bulova (924) and Seiko (819).

In a list consisting almost entirely of dedicated watch brands it was also surprising to note two Fossil-operated fashion watch brands in the list, namely Emporio Armani at No. 45 (835) and Michael Kors at No. 50 (807).
