Ernest Jones closes Scunthorpe store

The Ernest Jones store in Scunthorpe has ceased trading and closed its doors for the final time yesterday.

The Signet Group-owned store had occupied a corner unit on Scunthorpe High Street in the centre of the town.

A statement from Signet Group said that it was "sorry to be leaving Scunthorpe" but that it does have Ernest Jones stores in nearby Hull and Doncaster Frenchgate, which are less than 40 minutes’ drive from Scunthorpe.

A spokesperson for Signet Group told WatchPro: "We continually reassess our portfolio of stores on a store by store basis, particularly when individual store leases come up for renewal. This particular closure bears no reflection upon the future plans of the Signet business estate overall within the UK."

There has been no information released about job losses relating to the store closure.

Signet continues to operate an H Samuel store in Scunthorpe.
