EPHJ watchmakers’ trade show cancelled as Swiss authorities extend ban on large gatherings

EPHJ in Geneva is the world’s largest event for watchmaking equipment and micro-engineering technology and will return in June next year.

EPHJ Trade Show 2020 has been cancelled after the Swiss Federal Council extended its ban on events with more than 1,000 people to October 1.

The show’s organiser says it is frustrated by the extension, and continues to believe it could have held a safe show.

EPHJ in Geneva is the world’s largest event for watchmaking equipment and micro-engineering technology and will return in June next year.

“We have to honour the decision of the Swiss Federal Council,” says Alexandre Catton, Director of the EPHJ Trade Show. “Our thoughts go out to all those companies in the high-precision sector who rely on having this platform and were looking forward to presenting their findings and innovations at the Trade Show. We wanted to make a proactive contribution to the much-needed economic recovery. Unfortunately the virus had other ideas. We look forward to seeing everyone on 8 to 11 June at the 2021 Trade Show.”

Exhibitors have been given the option of claiming a refund of the 2020 registration fee or carrying their registration over to the 2021 show.

In the meantime, the EPHJ Trade Show will make its communication tools available to exhibitors.

Companies will be able to raise awareness of the technological advances and innovations that were due to be presented at the 2020 Trade Show, details of which will be circulated to the 50,000 trade professionals listed in the EPHJ database.
