Rolex watches accounted for 20% of the total luxury watch sales on the site this year.

Ebay has released its 2018 Shopping Report, highlighting how its customers bought a luxury watch every three minutes this year.

Rolex accounted for 20% of the total luxury watch sales, with Omega, Tag Heuer, Longines and Breitling named as the other top brands.

Luxury watches featured in eBay’s top category for trends that stood out the most in 2018, being included in ‘The Looks’ section of the report.

On the annual statement, Bradford Shellhammer, VP of Buyer Experience for the e-commerce site, said: “As the world’s largest marketplace, eBay search and sales data provides an interesting look at what’s happening in culture. By paying attention to new shopping behaviors over the course of the year investments in trading cards,  we’re able to predict the types of gifts that will bring joy this holiday season.

The annual statement gives the market not only an in-depth insight into consumer trends throughout the year, but also what has influenced them.

This year, Meghan and Harry’s wedding, Princess Eugenie’s engagement and Mickey Mouse’s 90th birthday were among the most influential events.

In celebration of the birthday, Mickey merchandise spiked by 24%.

Included in that spike was the most expensive Mickey item sold this year, a $10,000  Geralmagicd Genta Fantasy Retro Mickey Mouse Aviator Watch.
