As we saw most dramatically in 2021 with Audemars Piguet nixing its Royal Oak Jumbo and Patek Philippe retiring the 5711, demand can spike and send after market prices into orbit.
We may never see that sort of hysteria again, but there will be additional interest in watches cut from the Rolex catalogue this week, with the cult classic Milglauss and popular Cosmograph Daytonas with meteorite dials being retired.
