Duchess of Cornwall meets Struthers London

Struthers London watchmakers Craig and Rebecca Struthers met the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cambridge as they toured Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter.

The Royal visit was organised by the Jewellery Quarter Development Trust and offered an opportunity to showcase the progress of a £2 million investment by the Heritage Lottery Fund to regenerate one of the world’s historic centres of jewellery making; and to thank the Royal couple for their ongoing support of the area and its craftspeople.

The Struthers formed part of the welcoming committee at Birmingham City University’s School of Jewellery with other star alumni including jewellery designer Fei Liu and pen maker Jack Row. After a tour of the School of Jewellery by acting head Gaynor Andrews, the Duchess of Cornwall met with the maker’s in an exhibition of their work.

Craig and Rebecca Struthers are both alumni of the School of Jewellery as well as being postgraduates of Birmingham City University’s School of Art. Rebecca is currently studying a PhD in antiquarian horology at the University’s new Parkside campus.

She said: “The university plays such an important role in the future of Britain’s luxury industries and offers a number of courses unique in the world; the Prince and Duchess have been great supporters of the arts in our area, so it was fantastic opportunity to thank them in person”.

The Royal couple were presented with a pair of matching limited edition silver fountain pens by award-winning pen maker Jack Row.
