Dreyfuss Group revives J&T Windmills brand

The parent company of Rotary and Dreyfuss & Co has revived the J&T Windmills brand, named after pioneering 17th century English clock maker Joseph Windmills and his son Thomas.

The Dreyfuss Group, now owned by China Haidian, has reinvigorated the long-neglected brand, with three new 37mm watch families named Throgmorton, Threadneedle and Bartholomew, each available with four dial colours.

While constructed using Swiss-made components including Sellita SW200 movements, the Sterling silver-cased watches are entirely assembled in the UK. Pocket watches are also included as part of the collection.

Customers will be able to customise their own watch using an online configuration tool on the brand’s website and each watch in the series will cost £999 and be presented in a handcrafted box with removable tray, under which cufflinks can be stored.

J&T Windmills was not the only English name revived at Baselworld 2015, U-Boat and Welder owner Mounir Moufarrige introduced the watch world to his reimagining of the work of famed British horologist Larcum Kendall, with a series of chronometer’s under the L. Kendall brand name.

  1. I have a fully loaded [ box papers and receipt] DREYFUSS 1929 [Seafarer WR spec] model Gold PV plated Automatic picked up new in 2018 [or NOS] still tagged at £625. for under £250 including postage at auction. It keeps time to 15secs per day and has a ETA2824-2 movement. The box it came in is a damn sight better than the ORIGINAL one I got with my ’86 Rolex. I also have a 2020 ARMAND NICOLET purchased new similar spec [100mtrWR] but with the 26 jewel SELLITA SW200 also obtained from auction at less than half price. This also times to around 15 sec Per Day. The box that came is is also better than Rolex.
Why 2824 and SW200? Simpply because they are robust, simple and adjustable to near chrono and easily [and cheaply] serviced
