You probably have not heard of HappieWatch, a watch designer and manufacturer with offices in Hong Kong and Shanghai, but the business aims to change that by making a splash with timepieces featuring President Trump and Democratic challenger Joe Biden.
The Trump and Biden watches are part of a new FunnyFace range that uses cartoons and caricatures with their eyes used as two dials showing hours and minutes.
“HappieWatch is all about mixing cutting edge design with the lost art of watchmaking. With the FunnyFace range, we’re taking it to the next level. It’s almost impossible to put one on and not start a conversation. As for our Trump and Biden watches? They’re huge fun. I wonder which one will sell more,” muses HappieWatch founder Frank Zhu.
All HappieWatch models are designed as conversation starters thanks to the creative input of up-and-coming graphic designers, street artists and fashionistas.
They are all produced in limited runs and have interchangeable straps made from vegan leather, metal or nylon.
FunnyFace watches first launched on crowdfunding platform Indiegogo at the end of August with a target of raising $10,000 from advanced orders.
Sales to date on Indiegogo have reached $110,000, more than ten-times the original target thanks to an early bird price of $189 per watch.
Along with two presidential candidates, the latest HappieWatch collection features wild cats, owls, sharks, lizards and sharks.
