US jewellery brand David Yurman has created a limited edition timepiece in partnership with Carroll Shelby licensing, the company that oversees the use of the famous automobile designer’s name.
The companies have announced an agreement for an exclusive line of Shelby watches, with David Yurman unveiling the Shelby 1000 timepiece during a press conference at New York’s International Auto Show earlier this month.

"Just like the cars that created the Shelby American legend, David Yurman creates handcrafted jewellery and timepieces that are equally valued by collectors and enthusiasts. The Yurman watch and eyewear perfectly complement the exclusive Shelby 1000 vehicle. It beautifully demonstrates the innovation of both brands that deliver unique and distinctive time-honoured products."
The Limited Edition Shelby 1000 timepiece has a 43.5mm stainless steel and rubber case, which houses the Swiss automatic chronograph Valjoux 7753 movement.
A tachymeter is engraved on the bezel and the iconic Shelby Cobra insignia is hand-finished and applied to the multi-layer galvanic dial, which is accentuated by guilloche racing stripes.
The watch strap is textured to be like a cobra’s scales, while Carroll Shelby’s signature decorates the back of the watch.
The 1000 watch is said to be “a true testament to David Yurman’s celebrated design aesthetic, artistic disposition and passion for creating the finest precision timepieces available”.
Yuman said of the watch: "For half a century, Shelby American has been creating iconic cars that have both progressed automotive design as well as demonstrated how beautiful and affecting American craftsmanship can be.
"It’s this extraordinary dedication to craftsmanship and design that gravitated us to partner on this project, as both brands share the same passion for building beautiful objects of the highest possible quality."
Earlier this month Shelby American cars returned to the New York International Auto Show after 50 years’ absence.
David Yurman will produce a limited edition run of 150 stainless steel and 150 black PVD versions of the timepiece, which will be available at David Yurman stores, its authorised retailers and website.
