David Chu named Georg Jensen chief executive

Georg Jensen has announced a new chief executive – David Chu – the Danish brand’s former co-chairman of the board of directors and current chief creative officer.

Chu is now set to bring new collaborations to the brand, with the aim of making Georg Jensen a global name.

He said: "It is an honour to lead this company. I have great respect for its more than 100 year long tradition of excellence in design and craftsmanship and look forward to creating new collaborations with designers and artists. My goal is to bring Georg Jensen to the design conscious community all over the world."

Chu will remain a Georg Jensen board member as well as the brand’s chief creative officer, overseeing the design direction and strategy for all products.

He founded the global lifestyle and clothing brand Nautica in 1983, branching out into apparel, accessories, home ware and fragrance.

Chu sold Nautica in 2003 to VF Corporation, and served as chief creative officer of luggage and travel brand Tumi from 2006 to 2009.
