By Craig Heatly

The new owner of Swiss watch manufacturer Phillipe Dubois & Fils, said to be the older watchmaker in Switzerland, has opened the company up to investors and shareholders through a crowdfunding scheme.

Thomas Steinemann, the brand’s new owner, has opened the crowdfunding to generate the necessary funds to produce a new collection, which will be go on sale next year.

The mechanical watches made by Dubois et fils are limited to 99 pieces per series.

All investors will require both shares and will receive each new watch collection at a special rate, turning each individual into a brand spokesperson.

Steinemann said: “We want to stand out from the crowd and inspire our customers-in line with the tradition of Dubois et fils.”

The company is launching its crowdfunding prices between CHF 500 (£329) and CHF 10,000 (£6,590).

Steinman says he had strong interest in the scheme from shareholders over the past two weeks revealing that a five figure sum of money has already been raised. On the brand’s website 34 investors are said to have signed up raising CHF 53,500 (£35,250).
