COSC Bienne moves into new premises

COSC’s chronometer inspection bureau in Bienne, Switzerland, has moved into new premises complete with top of the range equipment.

Nicknamed BOBI (Bienne observation bureau) the inauguration follows similar upgrades to COSC’s other premises in Le Locle and Saint-Imier.

COSC’s workshop in Bienne analysed and certified the performance of 700,000 timepieces in 2013 alone.

The new premises that is home to 45 employees, mark a move away from the city centre and closer to COSC’s clients in the city’s industrial zone. The canton (or region) of Berne is Switzerland’s second largest watchmaking zone with 11,000 employees behind only Geneva and just ahead of Neuchâtel.

Last year the three COSC bureaux processed 1,802,447 timepieces with 1,688,441 obtaining official chronometer certification after a strict testing procedure.
