Coin 43mm 2

Corum trumps competition with line of president-approved vintage coin timepieces

Corum has unveiled a line of ultra-thin timepieces that use rare silver and gold American coins for their dials.

The dial of the first is an authentic dollar coin, made from sterling silver. Worked into the coin dial are steel hands painted blue that match the Corum name etched into the sapphire crystal, the sapphire jewel set into the crown and the blue alligator strap.

The second watch uses a genuine “Double Eagle” coin, made from 22-carat yellow gold. Black hands and a black strap, as well as a diamond set into the crown.

These two 43mm watches are powered by a Corum CO 082 automatic caliber, boasting a 42-hour power reserve.

A third release is the Special Edition which utilises a commemorative Israeli coin minted in 1973. This timepiece uses a set of black dials and a black alligator strap, as well as the same slim movement found in the American pieces.

Previous Coin Watches, launched by Corum in 1964, were worn by US Presidents George Bush Sr, Ronald Reagan, Lyndon Johnson, Jimmy Carter, Richard Nixon, and Bill Clinton as well as leading figures in art and design, including Andy Warhol.

The $1 USA Silver Coin retails for £11,900, the $20 USA Silver Coin for £19,800 and finally the Israel Silver Coin clocks in at £11,900.
