Cmj regional meeting glasgow

CMJ heads north of the border to meet members

The Company of Master Jewellers (CMJ) kicked off a series of events around the UK with the first of its 2014 Regional Meetings in Glasgow this week.

The event, which attracted 14 current and prospective CMJ members, allowed jewellers to quiz the buying group’s chief executive Willie Hamilton about the benefits of membership and to make suggestions for its continued evolution.

More importantly, the event provided a forum for discussion of issues affecting all jewellers in Scotland.

"The whole core of these Regional Meetings is for members to feed back to us. The shape of the CMJ has changed dramatically, and the board has restructured and evolved, so we want to communicate our strategy and emphasise what we can offer our members by coming to see them in their own locality," said Hamilton.

Lee-ona Long of Henry Lyall Jewellers in Ayr added: "I would really recommend this to other members. I feel that it is a great way to network and I look forward to the next one."

More meetings will take place across the UK and Ireland throughout May and June, with a Manchester event gearing up to host 17 members today (May 14).
