Citizen Eco-Drive Proximity smartwatch goes on sale in the UK

Citizen’s latest Eco-Drive Proximity connected timepiece has gone on sale in the UK.

The watch manages to keep its smart features running continuously without a battery thanks to solar power charging.

Its traditional watch functions are top end as well, featuring a one second chronograph measuring up to 60 minutes, alarm, perpetual calendar, 12/24 hour time, dual time, power reserve indicator and light level power indicator.

It is also 100 metres water resistant so it can be worn while swimming.

Downloading the Citizen Bluetooth Watch Proximity app allows you the user to connect the timepiece to an iPhone or Android phone.

This activates the automatic date and time synchronisation features so that the time is updated as people move between countries.

It also has a Bluetooth Connection Link Loss – allowing you to locate your phone if it’s left behind and notification and call filtering function allowing users to manage alerts from selected contacts.

Incoming messages to a phone will trigger a vibration on the watch, plus the second hand sweeps to point at various icons on the dial ring that denote whether there is an incoming call, email, SMS, Facetime, a calendar event or social media alerts.

Models range in price from £399 to £429, depending on finish.
