Citizen appoints its US boss to also lead Bulova

Bulova owner Citizen Watch Company has appointed its most senior US executive as president of the America watch brand following the departure of previous boss Gregory Thumm at the end of last year.

Jeffrey Cohen, the president of Citizen Watch Company of America, will now also be responsible for Bulova’s global operations. Citizen were quick to point out the each brand will continue to be operated autonomously.

Cohen has 35 years experience across both brands and it is thought his internal knowledge of both companies was key to his selection. Citizen stated that it would be looking to Cohen to ” further strengthen functional expertise and facilitate best practices”.

Cohen has held the top job at Citizen US since 2011, when he was promoted from executive vice president. Before that Cohen served as worldwide president of the Movado watch brand.

Toshio Tokura, Citizen Watch Company Ltd. president, said: “Jeffrey’s new position as president of both companies will provide an excellent opportunity for our company to take broader advantage of his exceptional vision, managerial skills and industry-wide relationships. Both the Bulova and Citizen brand teams will now share a common vision: offering the most compelling collection of brands and products that are loved, favoured and respected throughout the world.”

John Wille, who was serving as Interim President of Bulova Corporation until a permanent successor was named, will resume his position as Bulova’s Chief Operating Officer.
