Chronoswiss creates unique watch for kid’s charity

Chronoswiss has created a unique watch that will be auctioned to raise money for the Make-A-Wish foundation, which creates unforgettable experiences for children battling life-threatening illnesses.

The one-of-a-kind timepiece, the Sirius Lion Heart, is dedicated to those children who must face their difficult fate with the courage of a lion, the company says.

The Make-A-Wish project follows last year’s fund raising effort by Chronoswiss, when the brand raised CHF 50,000 for the World Childhood Foundation with the sale of another bespoke watch.

This year’s Sirius Lion Heart watch is made of solid white gold and carries a hand-engraved lion on the face.

Using a cloisonné enamel technique, the motif is applied in numerous individual sections with fine gold wire bent by hand.

Modeled after the Lucerne landmark that is located near the house of Chronoswiss, the exclusive one-of-a-kind piece also shows a majestic lion with a Swiss flag.

The individual sections are colourfully enamelled in several layers and passes so that they change as the light plays across them and the king of wildlife gleams in sumptuous colours.

The back of the watch has a sapphire crystal cover, exposing a filigree skeletonised mechanism with floral details, deep in the heart of the watch. This was skeletonised by hand and then elaborately decorated by hand on an historic rose engine.

The watch will be auctioned online in October 2014 by Antiquorum in Geneva.
