Chronoswiss creates colour-switching Chameleon watch

Open Gear ReSec Chameleon, like its reptilian namesake, is a master of disguise with a handmade guilloché dial that changes colour from green to turquoise.

Swiss watchmakers like to give their watches more than one look these days with interchangeable straps and bracelet.

Chronoswiss has gone one step further with a watch that changes colour, depending on which angle you look at it from.

The Open Gear ReSec Chameleon, like its reptilian namesake, is a master of disguise.

It has a handmade guilloché dial that changes its colour from green to turquoise.

Chronoswiss CEO Oliver Ebstein believes the chameleon breaks new ground for Swiss watchmaking. “Being an exclusive brand, goes far beyond a strict limitation of our timepieces,” he insists, although the watch is limited to 50 pieces.

“Exclusivity means to stretch boundaries and dare to step on pathways that have never been explored before. As a family owned company we have the freedom and luxury to try new things, things that would scare others,” he suggests.

The colour shifting dial is made with a short-wave hand guilloché pattern with green and turquoise nano coating on opposite sides of the ridges.

The 44mm steel watch has a central minutes hand, sub dial at 12 o’clock for the minutes and a retrograde seconds indicator below centre, all driven by the Chronoswiss caliber C. 301, automatic movement with 42 hour power reserve, which can be seen through an exhibition case back.

Chronoswiss’s Open Gear ReSec Chameleon is on sale now for CHF 9,900.
