Christopher Ward reveals new Aston Martin model

Christopher Ward Watches is celebrating 100 years of iconic Aston Martin cars with the introduction of a modified version of the sold-out C70 DBR1 Chronometer.

The watch brand was already committed to recognising the occasion when Christopher Bennett of TMBArtMetal revealed a piece of aluminium that formed part of the winning Aston Martin DBR1/2 in the Le Mans 24 hour race of 1959.

The car that the piece of metal is from recently sold for £20 million, making it the second most expensive car ever.

A spokesperson for the brand exclaimed: "We had a piece of the very car that represented Aston Martin’s finest achievement on a race track in their 100 year history."

Christopher Ward decided that a modified version of its sold-out C70 DBR1 Chronometer was the ideal model with which to honour the historic occasion.

The brand has previously created a model in homage to the only ever Aston victory at Le Mans.

Committed car enthusiast Johannes Jahnke prepared the historic metal to allow Christopher Ward to incorporate a medallion into the back plate of each of the 100 pieces of the special limited edition. The design of the medallion includes a perfect facsimile of the car’s number 5 and has been covered by a sapphire crystal for posterity.

Only 100 of the timepieces have been created and each will retail at £1,950.

Christopher Ward said it expects all 100 pieces to be fully reserved when they are released for pre-order in a few weeks, for delivery in November.

The full specifications and more images will be released in a few weeks.
