Burberry has given an advanced preview of the 2015 watch collection it will launch this spring, featuring two exclusive models designed by Christopher Bailey, the company’s chief creative and chief executive officer.
The Iconic Check collection compises a numbered limited edition for men and a made to order piece for women. The collection takes its design inspiration from the luxury fashion house’s iconic trench coat lining.
The instantly recognisable check, first introduced in the 1920s, is reinterpreted in precious materials, set and assembled by hand in Switzerland.
The Britain Icon Check for Men Limited Edition
With a 45mm men’s timepiece features a woven check-shaped skeleton dial and a mechanical movement with manual winding.
The Burberry check of the face is created with anthracite, and partially obscures the hand-wound mechanical movement.
Physically, the watch is large at 45mm, but slim. Only 20 units will be produced.
The Britain Icon Check for Women Limited Edition has a 38mm solid 18K rose gold case with a diamond-set bezel and diamond and mother-of-pearl-set dial.
The model is the first watch to use the STP3-13 movement with swan neck.
Inspired by the iconic Burberry check, the dial features 245 diamonds handset in an interwoven grid design, separated with miniature mother-of-pearl pieces precisely cut and laid by hand. 124 diamonds are pavé-set into the bezel.
Made by STP, an innovative mechanical movement manufacturer, the STP3-13 calibre with swan neck enables the watchmaker to adjust the timekeeping of the watch with extreme precision.
