Childhood friends reach watch design business Kickstarter funding goal in minutes

The €10,000 was smashed, raising €42,000 with 8 days still to go.

Jeppe Larsen and Magnus Eriksen, childhood friends and founders of watch design company Larsen & Eriksen, have reached their Kickstarter funding goal within 25 minutes.

It comes after 18 months of product development for the pair, as the goal of €10,000 was smashed, raising €42,000 with 13 days still to go.

Pledges for the Aktiv, which is available in 10 designs, begin from $219/£154/€179, a saving of around $270/£255/ €220 on the RRP.

The brand says it expects to commence delivery in September.

Magnus Eriksen, joint founder of Larsen & Eriksen, commented: “Building from our long experience with creating minimalist watches with remarkably thin case designs, we set out to challenge the way dive watches are normally designed and produced. We have distilled the dive watch into its core essence, and – with a thickness of only 8.5 mm – Aktiv is one of the thinnest dive watches ever produced.”

Adding: “We knew that a lot of people had been looking forward to our launch of Aktiv – but never in our wildest dreams had we imagined that we would be fully funded in just 25 minutes.”
