Channel 4 commissions fresh episodes of fly on the wall show about Xupes pre-owned watch business

Following the success of Second Hand for 50 Grand, Xupes will feature in additional episodes that will air next year.

The team at Xupes, one of the UK’s leading certified pre-owned watch businesses, became TV stars earlier this year when Channel 4 aired a fly on the wall documentary about buying and selling top end timepieces, jewellery and handbags.

Now the docu-series has been commissioned for additional episodes that will air next year.

The original show, Second Hand for 50 Grand, followed the life and work of Xupes co-founder and CEO Joe McKenzie and his team of experts as they seek out exquisite examples of luxury pre-owned goods, bring them back to mint condition in their Bishop Stortford workshops, and sell them on.

It was shot at Xupes UK headquarters, known as the Wheat Barn, a converted 17th century barn with dedicated client spaces as well as a fully equipped watchmaking centre, professional photography studio and office space for their 50 staff.

“Xupes has some exciting months ahead and with the success of its TV show on Channel 4 earlier this year there will be further episodes to follow in 2022,” WATCHPRO was told exclusively today.

The exciting months ahead will be under new ownership after Chrono24’s parent organisation, MPN Marketplace Networks GmbH, acquired a majority stake in Xupes.

Mr McKenzie told WATCHPRO on a recent visit to the company that the partnership could help Xupes treble in size in the coming few years.

MPN Marketplace Networks GmbH also owns German pre-owned watch specialist Zeitauktion and online watch magazine Fratello.
