Casio joins Houlden as new watch supplier

Houlden Group has signed Casio as its newest preferred timepiece supplier, as the buying group continues to expand its portfolio of suppliers.

Houlden has taken on Casio – which sells more than a million timepieces in the UK each year – during a period of “unprecedented year-on-year” growth for the watch brand.

Casio and its brands, including G-Shock, Edifice and its recently-launched ladies’ timepiece collection Sheen, will be part of the offer available to Houlden Group members.

Greg Needoff, national account manager of Casio’s UK timepiece division, said: “Casio Electronics is delighted to announce its newly-agreed partnership with the Houlden Group and I invite all members to take a fresh look at Casio – you will be pleasantly surprised at the diversity and depth of our ranges. We look forward to meeting as many of the members as we can and introducing the Casio ranges to the Houlden Group.”

Casio watches have been sold in the UK for 40 years. The brand has noted an increase in interest in its Casio Collection of heritage models, which are said to be undergoing a huge renaissance in the marketplace as younger shoppers seek out retro-style watches.

Houlden Group chief executive Stuart Laing said of the news: “As a market leader in stylish watches Casio is a popular addition to our suppliers list. We’re delighted to welcome them and look forward to seeing them at our next suppliers’ meeting.”

Corum, Gc, Frederique Constant and Roamer are among several other watch brands supplying Houlden Group members.
