Cartier wins Walpole CSR award

Luxury watch brand Cartier was presented with the Corporate Social Responsibility Award last night at the Walpole Awards for Excellence in association with Coutts.

The annual awards are run by Walpole, a not-for-profit organisation founded in 1990 to promote British luxury goods at home and worldwide, and are designed to recognise the best in the British luxury industry.

Cartier UK executive chairman Arnaud Bamberger and Cartier UK managing director Laurent Feniou were at at the event at the Banqueting House in London’s Whitehall last night to accept the award.

Feniou said: "We want to say thank you to the judging panel. It is wonderful for Cartier to receive the CSR award. CSR is very, very important for Cartier. Since 1847 this is really at the heart of what we do.

"The motto for us is that from the mine to the boutique we need to have a CSR attitude. We have been one of the founding members of the Responsible Jewellery Council [since] 2005."

Asprey, which has its own line of watches, was shortlisted for the British Luxury Brand award at the Walpole Awards for Excellence 2013 but lost out to Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.

Speaking at the awards, Walpole managing director Michelle Emmerson said: "Tonight is an unparalleled opportunity to celebrate the vast talent across the luxury sector, to honour individuals, brands, and their creative teams.

"Over the coming year we will push Walpole British Luxury forward, focusing on our international associates and network, and consolidate the message that the luxury industry is an essential driver for the economic success and international reputation of Great Britain. Walpole is in a real position of strength – with an established voice, a board of industry experts and an impressive membership of the UK’s best-known luxury brands and cultural institutions. We are now perfectly placed to protect, promote and provide resources as the voice of British luxury.”
