Bulgari launches Chiming Time exhibition

Bulgari launched a Haute Horlogerie exhibition of its complicated watches at the brand’s Bond Street boutique this morning.

Chiming Time runs until October 24 and focuses on the brand’s jewelled and Grande Complication watches whilst celebrating the launch of the Octo Finissimo, the world’s thinnest tourbillon, with a cage just 1.95mm deep in a watch measuring only 5mm in depth.

The curated collection of current Haute Horlogerie pieces as well as pieces from the Bulgari archives is on display on the Mayfair boutique’s first floor.

Watches on display include the new chiming L’Ammiraglio del Tempo or The Admiral of Time, a four hammer and gong Westminster Carillon Repetition Minute, with Détente Escapement, a Constant Force mechanism and secret activation lever. The watch is a tribute to the 300th anniversary of the British Government’s Longitude Act of 1714, which led to safer navigation of the world’s seas.

Other pieces include the most precious Serpenti watches in the collection and Bulgari’s playful Magsonic Tourbillon, a skeletonised watch with chambers of luminous material inside a transparent sapphire crystal caseband that illuminate the movement in dark environments.

Archive pieces include Bulgari’s first chiming watch, the Anfiteatro Repetition Minutes, inspired by Greek Ampitheatres.

Fabrizio Buonamassa, Bulgari’s director of watch design, along with one of the brand’s most skilled watchmakers was on hand for the first day of the event to explain the significance of various watches including the Berries collection, which is its first to blend Haute Horlogerie with Haute Joaillerie.
