British watchmaker Alexandre Meerson aims to create ladies’ collection within a year

Luxury British watchmaker Alexandre Meerson has committed to launching its first ladies’ collection within a year.

The company, which designs its watches in Surrey then has them handmade to order in Switzerland, says it will take inspiration from customers around the world during the creation of the collection.

Meerson styles itself as an haute couture maison of jewellery and watches, and will consult with women in a series of events in great global cities in a programme it has called Project Anna as its ladies’ collection is developed.

Mr Alexandre Meerson, the company’s founder, says: “Creating a women’s collection has been my objective for as long as I can remember, and in particular since the inception of Meerson. Project Anna is my own way to gain inspiration from the women I am designing luxury watches and jewellery for. The pieces I design must be beautiful; they must also be relevant and meaningful. Today’s femininity deserves luxury for today.”

Kicking off with London in January, Meerson will combine intimate international events with the power of social media. The events will bring together guest speakers, celebrities and inspirational women from the worlds of art, science, media and craftsmanship.
