Bremont Watch Company heads Down Under

By Hallie Engel

The Bremont Watch Company is launching in Australia, where Gregory Jewellers will serve as its first retail partner.

Starting October 1, Brit watchmaker Bremont will offer its watches at the Gregory Jewellers flagship store in Sydney. Bremont already has a strong reputation in Australia, thanks to its connection with the country’s military and the appearance of its timepieces on television, including Ewan McGregor’s motorcycle show, A Long Way Down.

Speaking about the impending launch, Bremont co-founder Giles English said: “We have always received a great deal of interest from Australians, both with military personnel and the general public. Australia is consistently one of the highest countries in terms of volume of web traffic to Bremont.com. I think the classical style and rugged design of our mechanical watches have a strong appeal to the Australian man. What is also critical for us when we enter new markets is finding the right partners to work with, I strongly believe we have done this and we are very pleased to be launching with Gregory Jewellers.”

Co-CEOs of Gregory Jewellers Helen and Edward Gregory also spoke about the new partnership. They said: “As an Australian-owned and family operated company, we are proud of the heritage and values that our brand has come to represent. Over the years we’ve introduced major innovations in style and design, our partnership with Bremont, will reinforce our position as the country’s leading destination for luxury timepieces.”

Bremont was recently snapped up by online menswear fashion site Mr Porter and has opened an own-brand store in Hong Kong.
