Bremont UK dream grows with Henley HQ opening

Bremont has opened its new facility in Henley, Oxfordshire, marking a key step in its bid to bring its watchmaking in-house in Britain.

The new building, a renovated oak barn, has been custom-built to fit the needs of Bremont and its manufacturing, with specially built workbenches, lighting and ventilation system.

The brand is in the midst of a long term, staged investment program to develop mechanical watch manufacturing expertise in the UK. It will be assembling and finishing off key movement and case components at the new Henley space.

Giles English, co-founder of Bremont, said: “Our intention has always been to bring as much watch manufacturing back to the UK as we can and we are at the start of an exciting period in the company’s growth.

“Britain has an illustrious history of watch making and considerable engineering talent for us to utilise, we intend to make the most of it. Naturally we are still very dependent on our wonderful Swiss engineering partners and staff who we continue to work with and thank them for their on-going support.”

Bremont has also announced that, owing to changes at Basel, it will not be exhibiting during the show in 2013. Instead it is offering to meetings at its Henley HQ.
