Bremont lends time to solo transatlantic rower

Bremont has announced its support of British rower Charlie Pitcher, who is set to embark on a solo rowing challenge across the Atlantic.

The watch brand has been named official timekeeper of Pitcher’s adventure, which launches this month.

Pitcher is set to row 3,000 miles from La Gomera in northwest Africa to Antigua in the Caribbean. He will be accompanied on his journey by Bremont’s ALT1-P timepiece.

Bremont has already worked with a number of adventurers and explorers and hosts a monthly explorers club at its store in Mayfair, London, where Pitcher will speak both before and after his rowing challenge.

Giles English, co-founder of Bremont, said: “We are thrilled to be supporting Charlie on his world record attempt. When he approached the brand we knew how determined he was to succeed.

“Bremont are always looking for interesting explorers to link with and this challenge is a great fit for us with the need for perfect timing precision as well as testing the upmost durability and strength”

There will be a sense of déjà vu for Pitcher, as this latest trip marks the second time he has rowed the Atlantic. This time, however, he will be attempting to break the previous record which currently stands at 40 days, 9 hours and 44 minutes.

To date Pitcher has raised almost £300,000 for charity through his rowing endeavours. He said: “This is the biggest physical and mental challenge I will ever put myself through, but with the right attitude to training and preparation as well as sheer determination, I believe anything is possible”
