Breitling celebrates 50th year of the Red Arrows

Aviation orientated watch manufacturer Breitling is celebrating the 50th display season of the Red Arrows with a limited edition watch.

An exclusive version of the Transocean Chronograph will be produced in just 50 retail pieces. An additional 15 pieces, with extra red detailing, were created and 14 of those have been presented to each member of the Red Arrows 2014 display team.

The commemorative watch, celebrating 50 years of the Royal Air Force’s aerobatic display team, is based on the Transocean Chronograph in black steel. It features the insignia of the Red Arrows and caseback engraved with a 50th Anniversary hawk tailfin.

Each watch sold will be accompanied with a signed book created in collaboration Breitling, the artist David Bent and the Red Arrows themselves.

The presentation of 14 watches was made last week to the Red Arrows at the brand’s Bond Street boutique, where the watch will exclusively be available priced at £7,200. Watch 15/15 will be auctioned later this year at the Red Arrows Gala Dinner to raise funds of the Air League.

Before the presentation Breitling UK’s managing director, said: “It is with immense pride that Breitling will present the Red Arrows with these stunning commemorative pieces. For more than 20 years the team have worn our wrist chronographs as an instrument for precision and timing in their world renowned aerobatic displays. We look forward to many more happy years shared in the skies.”
