Brand creates Swiss “hourglass” for the wrist

Swiss-designed brand Partime has launched a timepiece that simultaneously shows, like an hourglass, elapsed time and the proportion remaining, something it has dubbed a “swiss hourglass for the wrist”.

The brand says the watch is unlike any other type of timepiece that has “no ticking, no trickling, no blinking digits”.

The time is instead displayed at a right angle within a circle that shows the hours horizontally and the minutes vertically. The elapsed time is the white section of the dial while the blue represents the time remaining in the day. As the minutes pass, the blue area will reduce until the circle is entirely empty at the end of the day.

The watch is now set to be showcased in the Designmesse in Zurich and is also bound for Brazil where it will be sold through a specialist shop for unusual designer watches.

The watch was designed by Swiss creative Andreas Mossner, who showcased the watches for the first time at BaselWorld in March.

The 45mm watch has a steel case, LCD display – which, at the press of a button, can display the time in a digital numeral format – mineral glass and is waterproof to 30m.
