Boutique.Goldsmiths opens new store in Guildford

Goldsmiths’ spin-off fashion-led retail chain will open a new store at The Friary shopping centre in Guildford.

Presented by Aurum Group-owned Goldsmiths as the 240 year-old jeweller’s ‘cooler younger sibling,’ boutique.Goldsmiths aims to be more accessible and on-trend than its older brother.

The Friary centre is a converted medieval monastic house in Guildford, Surrey, and already boasts stores including Topshop, Armani Exchange and Hollister. The new boutique.Goldsmiths shop will occupy a 1,085 sq ft unit at the heart of the scheme on a 10-year lease.

Scott Linard, director of asset management & leasing for M&G Real Estate, who run The Friary shopping centre, said: "Boutique.Goldsmiths joins The Friary at a time of significant retailer interest in the scheme, while Guildford goes from strength to strength as one of the South East’s dominant fashion hubs.”

The move to Guildford by Goldsmiths is seen as coming at a good time, as the area’s growing affluent demographic means that it’s climbing up the table of desirable retail destinations in the south east of England.

The store is expected to open its doors to customers in autumn 2015.
