BLACK FRIDAY: Rise of online to offer watch sale relief ahead of this year’s footfall nosedive

From zoom calls to Amazon orders, this year’s shift towards a tech savvy nation could point towards more of a successful Black Friday for retailers and brands offering online discounts.

Following a turbulent year of sales for many, Black Friday has given a number of watch retailers the chance to claw back some of the ground lost since the covid quarter.

With shops closed due to a national lockdown in England, WatchPro had previously explained how this year’s event could make for the blackest of Fridays to date.

Retail Intelligence firm Springboard forecasted that this year, UK footfall would be 59% lower than 2019 across all retail destinations on the day of Black Friday, and 58% lower over the three days from Friday to Sunday.

England was forecast to be hardest hit with a decline of 61.7% across all destinations on Black Friday and 60.6% over the weekend.

Despite this, Britain has become increasingly tech savvy this year, it has had to be. From zoom calls to Amazon orders, this shift could point towards more of a successful black Friday for retailers and brands up and down the country.

Here, WatchPro takes a look at a handful of the deals on offer from within the watch market:
